Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS)
| I just called and found out that I am number 3 on the waitlist for fall. I had no idea how crazy competitive this was going to be. Anyone else playing the waiting game?? |
I would think you are pretty certain to get in. They do the big SACC shuffle in a few weeks.

#3 in June. You should be fine. Depending on who you talk to in the SACC office, they can sort of tell you your chances, but I think you're fine.
And yeah, no one tells you how insane those waitlists can be. Soooo happy that I have both my kids in. |

We got on the list for both before care and after care SACC in Jan. 2009 - before we even moved back to VA. (Moved in springtime.) Started school in September, and got into morning SACC in October. Didn't get after school SACC until January 2010.
#3 in June - yep, you should definitely be fine for Sept. |
Could someone kindly explain what the "big SACC shuffle" in June is? Is that when they start calling folks on the wait list for the fall, and knocking those off who don't accept? Thanks in advance |
| 20:11 you are correct. Last year we went from 15th to "in" within a week or two as people had to commit or drop off the list. That's also when they confirm whether people in last year want to continue. |
| They take off outgoing 6th graders, they make people confirm if they are returning for the next year, they figure out who has siblings coming, etc. We are switching to a different school next year and yesterday they had me do some paperwork for that, so they are definitely gearing up to update the SACC database. |
What this poster said. Also, if you haven't notified SACC that you won't be needing their services in the fall, you will receive your monthly bill for September. That's when you'll also get the last minute scramble of people getting off their duff to notify SACC so they won't be responsible for the payment. Hence, rapid waitlist movement in late summer! |
