Einstein VAC

My 8th grader just applied. Two questions:

1) Are decisions announced at the same time as other HS programs? I thought that’s what they said at the info session, but one place one the website says mid-February and one says late February.

2) I read a lot on DCUM about kids taking outside classes and working for years on their portfolios. Does anyone get in without that? My kid does art all the time, but hasn’t taken many classes, and most of the portfolio was put together startlingly close to the submission deadline.

Yes, same time.

My child had not taken much in the way of outside classes. I believe their portfolio pieces were created over the span of a few months.

For kids who don’t get into VAC, is the VAPA academy at Einstein also good for students with an interest in visual art?

Do you get a separate letter for VAC applicants or is there one big letter with all the decisions?

VAPA is more focused on the performing arts, but students in that academy can also take visual art. And then just apply to the VAC as sophomores- you don’t have to start as a freshman

OP here. DC was admitted! So excited for them. We didn’t get any info about an admitted student event. Anyone know if they usually have one / how kids are notified?

Does anyone know about hte option to do VAC and then return to the homeschool for the rest of the day? How does it work? Do they lose a period in transport? Our local school is BCC if it makes a difference.

We applied but have heard anything. Did you get an email or was it in ParentVUE? Or studentvue?
