Looking for an excellent middle eastern market in the dmv. Which are the best? I’m willing to travel for excellence.
What are you specifically looking for? I use Shiraz market and Beirut butcher when I need specific ingredients I can’t find elsewhere (smoked rice, Persian limes, etc…).
Yekta in Rockville is decent. Persian owners but they have stuff from all over the Middle East.
Mezehub in Rockville
What about the new Gourmet Bazaar in Rockville

Mediterranean bakery in Alexandria

OP here-looking for Lebanese stuff of all kinds: bread, cheese, vegetables if possible; sweets; Cortas brand stuff.
I recommended the Mediterranean bakery, you’ll find all stuff there. Also, at Shemali’s though don’t remember if they have sweets, but definitely bread & other staples.
Mama lavash in Falls church is very small, but has excellent bread and baklava.
+1 worth the drive. |
Came in just to post the same - love this place! |
In DC- Shemali is probably your best bet. gourmet basket in McLean is good and they have fantastic catering.
Another vote for Mediterranean Bakery. The “middle eastern” food scene kinda sucks in this region. As a Lebanese from Detroit, Med. Bakery is about the best you can get.
Lebanese Taverna Market in Arlington.
