| Have to go to a nice housewarming party in Palo Alto. I haven't been to California in years. What do women wear? It will be tech people. I want to look nice but not stand out. |
| I would do sweater, skirt, low heel or no heel boots. Depends on your age though. |
Just go for an Eileen Fisher look- the more modern version with the slightly cropped, wider leg pant, the loose natural fabric cropped sweater with stretch cami in peeking beneath. In like navy, taupe, black, eggplant or a slate blue. Pair with lace up oxfords same color as pants or a sleek sneaker. Get an artsy pair of lucite dangly earrings or similar. Delicate necklace at neck or none at all. |

Really…natural. 4” regrowth in highlights, no Botox/much makeup, and shapeless clothing. I’m not being facetious, it’s truly the dress there.
-tech person who knows SF well |
That would be VERY overdressed. Stand out like a sore, overdressed East Coast thumb. |
Are you dressing a 70 yr old to go to a museum luncheon? |
| Nice jeans, blouse, ballet flats |
| When is the party? |
| Nice pair of well fitting dark jeans, a nicely tailored white shirt. Really fun dangling earrings. |
| Wear what looks good on your figure. If you have a very good figure, the simplest dress can look good. If you are a mishapen sack of potatoes, even a designer dress looks awful. Of course you also have to have a pretty face. But, in the end, wear what looks pleasing on you. |
| I would guess the answer might be different if the hosts are billionaires, but in general in CA I don’t think you can go wrong with nice jeans. |
| SBF parents found a new place? |
This is where I went too.

As a broad stereotype, tech people are into fashion sneakers.
I go to the PA/MP/SJ area for tech parties and it's hard to mess up. Personally, I'd wear wide leg jeans, sneakers, and a cute hoodie or colorful jacket over a tank top. |
| Dark jeans, silk or cotton other cute top (Rebecca Taylor , ali golden etc), flats or loafers. Or, wide leg pants, fitted top or sweater, thick sole boots. |
