| I'm really interested in reading more about people from this area. Either who he up here or worked here professionally. Is anyone aware of or have you read any good biographies of anyone local? |

They are a shelves and shelves of bad DC political memoirs.
People will jump on here to recommend ones that I am sure they didn't read because the like the person who's name and photo is on the front (even though that person most definitely did not write it). It's been 25 years since I read it, but I remember the Stephanopoulos being significantly better than most. Same with Katherine Graham's. Almost too obvious to suggest, but Master of the Senate is such a great portion of an amazing body of work. |
| Are you interested in historical fiction? The Magnificent Lives of Marjorie Post was really good! |
|
David Chang’s autobiography is good. His early life is here.
Katherine Graham’s Personal History |
| Is this a joke? Finding biographies of people from DC is hardly the challenge you think it is |
Not OP, but she asked for GOOD books |
This is a good point. I forgot where I was for a second. I wanted non politicians. I'm thinking Marvin Gaye, Nannie Helen Burrows, Joe Gibbs, Connie Chung. Obviously I'm asking the question because my list isn't too long but how many of their m these people have bios or autobiographies that are good? |
| David Grohl |
| This isn’t exactly what you’re looking for, but I enjoyed Tangled Up in Blue, by Rosa Brooks. She’s a law professor who went through DC police training and wrote about the experience. |

Do you remember Gifford's Ice Cream? The grandson of the founders wrote a book about the rise and fall of the company, and of his family.
