Trump discussed nuclear strike on North Korea and blaming another country

Former President Donald Trump in 2017 privately discussed the possibility conducting a nuclear strike on North Korea and diverting the blame to another country, according to a newly published afterword of a book on the Trump administration, NBC News reported.

The big picture: The book's afterword recounts then-White House chief of staff John Kelly's concern in 2017 regarding Trump's frequent talk of going to war with North Korea, per NBC News.

Trump "cavalierly discussed the idea of using a nuclear weapon against North Korea, saying that if he took such an action, the administration could blame someone else for it to absolve itself of responsibility," Schmidt writes. "It’d be tough to not have the finger pointed at us," Kelly told Trump, according to the book.Kelly tried to dissuade Trump from perusing the option by explaining the economic repercussions of such a move. He also brought in military leaders to explain to Trump the likelihood with which war between the U.S. and North Korea would break out and the devastating consequences that could result.
Schmidt reports that the prospect of how many people could be killed had "no impact on Trump."

Trump was also "baffled and annoyed" that he would need congressional approval in order to conduct a preemptive strike on North Korea.

There are a number of different anecdotes reported about Trump thinking we could attack somewhere and deny responsibility and no one would know it was us. This came up when it was reported that he wanted to nuke the drug factories in Mexico and also with Iran IIRC.

All of the other reports about Trump were true, so this must be true as well. At least, I'll believe it and argue it until somebody shows me I'm wrong... and even then I might have to take issue with that person's proof.

I don't think anyone has said that. He had personal and financial ties to various corrupt Israeli leaders, like Netanyahu, as well as ties to Saudi Arabia and a lot of other places. That just makes him as corrupt as his father in law, not an "asset."

No general Kelly said JK was agent working for Israel and doing Bibi bidding. It was wthe reason Kelly refused to give JK clearance. This was just one of the many concerns about JK. The FBI etc had serious concern about who JK was meeting with and his business deals. Kelly just stated the main concern.

It’s in the book. The author of the book said something like ..Kelly told me he thought JK was an agent for Israel and was doing Bibi’s bidding. It was on MSNBC on Thursday Deadline White House show. It has been an open secret for a years now. No one in the media cares.

It’s the typical problem with Trump. So much sh#t comes out that would wreck any previous administration stuff just goes uncovered. Trump was going to nuke North Korea and blame it on another country. There are only 9 countries with nuclear weapons. This would have killed millions and started a war. It is hardly covered by the press.

Let’s face it. The right wing media drives the news narrative. They do not push stories that make trump look bad. It all about laptops, Biden taking away your gas appliances and Biden stealing classified documents vs nuking N. Korea or the Jan 6th plot.
