Your child is in 2nd Grade, why would you want them to develop an aversion to testing at such a young age. If your intention is for your child to qualify as "gifted" and if she/he truly is, then your child will do well on the the test without studying

Not OP, but just wondering...do people prep for these tests? I mean really...be honest. It just seems like there is so much pressure for the parents to get their kids in AAP. Why? Children should be educated in a way that is most appropriate for them. I was not in AAP, but had great teachers, went to a decent university and have a wonderful job and life. I have seen first hand what this kind of pressure does to the kids...AND IT IS NOT HEALTHY!! Let your kids blossom into what they are meant to be, and this is coming from a parent who is also a teacher.

I was in GT (gifted and talented) and some of my friends who have achieved the most since high school that I know did not even go to college--entrepreneurs...I did just fine, but no IVY for me....let your child be a child...

PS (from above) I won't even tell you what some of the GT kids were getting up too....even shocks me now!

FWIT...colleges don't care if your child was in AAP during elementary school. During high school years, they want to see Honors/AP classes, high GPA, decent SAT scores, and a kid who is well rounded in the arts or sports. If you are a minority (not asian) or disadvanteged...even better!
