| Did one of the Deal science teachers quit? |
| One sixth-grade Deal science teacher quit about a week before school started, and they had to scramble to disperse that teacher's kids to other teachers (the teacher quit after schedules had been sent out). My kid says she's been told that her replacement is about to join the school, finally. |
The teacher who quit is included on the above list, fwiw, but she has not been there all year. Sixth grade has been working with three science teachers all eyar. |
Edit: Four science teachers, not three. |
|
If it's who I think it was it was a 100% legitimate/understandable departure from a very dedicated and long-term teacher. My kids both had him/her and he/she was awesome.
The timing could not be helped but teachers are hard to replace--especially in DCPS with their slow hiring process. |
| If the teacher is looking for another middle school science position, we're looking for another 8th grade science teacher at Wells! |
OP- I was wondering about a 7th grade one. |
| My kid had been assigned to the science teacher who quit before school started. We were told in early September that a replacement had been hired but was awaiting paperwork from central DCPS. Still no replacement and no update since September. |
My kid said she was told this week that the new teacher would be starting soon. |
list? |
| There is a seventh grade science teacher on family leave. My kid has that teacher and he's temporarily sitting in with another class. |
Someone posted the list of Deal science teachers but it got taken down, even though it's publicly available information on the Deal website. One of the teachers who left is still listed as working at Deal. |
| There’s a 7th grade teacher not on leave who hasn’t returned from winter break… |
| The 7th grade science teacher who didn't return from winter break has left their students with no science instruction for the past 3 weeks because the random subs who change daily are not providing any instruction. There have been no grades posted for this teacher's classes since the second week of the advisory and the grading period ends next week. No communication from administration and no clue if the kids will receive any science instruction for the rest of the school year. What a bust! |
Sorry, but you know, there is a pretty serious teacher shortage right now. |
