Definite bias in reporting

There was a shooting in Rockville last night. Man shot several times…. Anyone seen it on the news? Nope.

How do you know there was a shooting in Rockville if it wasn’t reported?

News is man bites dog, not dog bites man.

A shooting? Not really newsworthy.

That’s not an indication of bias in the news. It’s an indictment of a society where shootings are so commonplace that they amount to dog bites man.

Don’t shoot the messenger.

All I had to do was google “Rockville shooting,” and the very first hit was this piece from WUSA9 from this morning:

Anytime something happens in the eastern moco it’s all over the news as a reminder about how crappy eastern moco is. Yet when the same stuff happens in Rockville/Bethesda we don’t hear about it as much. Gotta keel up the pretense that Rockville/Bethesda has better schools and less crime to keep up the property values I guess….. it’s all a sham.

Compare photo's of black victims vs white victims.

It's insane how badly they portray black victims.

My family is LEO's and it's is so frustrating how their victims are portrayed.

Why is nobody in the media covering this event I heard about through media coverage?!

I think you just pay more attention to crime in the east part of the county because that’s where you live.

Imagine the inverse proposition that you believe. Imagine that only crime in the western part of the county was widely reported. Wouldn’t the complaint be that the media only cares about affluent victims?

I honestly don’t understand what you’re arguing.

So ONE TV station mentioned it, and that’s supposed to be conclusive proof?

OP asked, “Anyone seen it on the news?”

The answer is yes, it was seen on the news. What’s your point?

Proof of what? OP said that the news wasn't covering it. Another poster googled it and found that at least one station was covering it.
