True landline phone service

Are there any companies that offer true landline phone service in NOVA? Internet phone service doesn't seem to be any more useful than cell phone service in a power outage

Not Verizon.

I don't think copper line service exists anymore

Verizon ripped out my existing copper line service even when I wanted to pay for it.

Verizon insisted on removing our copper landline when they installed Fios in our house. They said that was their policy.

Verizon removed our copper too. I was supremely pissed off over it.

Get one of the shoe-box sized UPS devices (rather than the surge protector sized ones). It'll last a day or so if it's just your modem and phones you're powering.

I'm partial to these: https://www.amazon.com/APC-Smart-UPS-1500VA-Battery-SMT1500/dp/B002MZW5JU

I asked at&t to reactivate our landline that got turned off by the previous owners and they refused to do it for any amount of money. The line is still hooked up to the telephone pole.
