AL versus AP for Foreign Language

What is the difference between AL and AP classes for foreign languages. We noticed this in the level 5 course level where one can take Spanish 5A/5B (AL) versus Spanish 5A/5B LC A/B. Are the AL classes count similar in quality points as Hon/AP classes? Would appreciate clarification.

Yes, AL (Advanced Level) classes earn the same quality points as Honors, AP, and IB classes.

So are AL classes basically Honors classes? And AP classes are just a bit harder than AL?

Advanced Level is an umbrella term which includes AP and IB classes, as well as some other classes (such as Spanish 5) which are simply labeled as AL, because you need to have progressed through a sequence of earlier courses to get there.
