Battery replacement for Porsche 911

Anonymous
Battery died and 911 is showing “battery discharged” on dash. I assume this is the battery.

Do I need to have the battery replaced at the dealer or can I go to a local shop that works on Porsches? I understand with a Porsche the battery needs to be registered with the car engine or it can hurt the car.

Any advice on what to do?

What year is your car? I would check on rennlist too and see what other owners have done. The forums usually resolve my issues after a quick search.

Go to the dealer or a shop that only works on Porsche's. My husband has a 2017 911 convertible. I've learned a lot.

if you can afford a 911, go to the dealer.

Hook up a “trickle charger” to positive and negative cables. Then remove battery and replace.

Only issue high end Mercedes, Porsches and BMW codes clear out and sometimes car may not restart.

Something easy to do. It is not really auto repair. Even STS or Mr. Tire or any battery store can do it.

Dealership really jacks up batteries. My Cadillac battery was near the end dealer wanted $550. My daughter borrowed car to go to Philly on way it gave out and STS tire and battery chain put new on in for $220 with free labor. Only paid for battery.
