I’m going to have my first FET in 2.5 weeks. Do you have any recommendations for things you did in the weeks and days leading up to your FET, as well as day of and immediately after?
I’ve read a little bit about requesting an anti anxiety pill which I plan to do. I know generally reduce stress and eat well. I saw something about Mucinex but that sounds weird. I still drink coffee but have reduced to one cup a day. My BMI is normal. Age 34. Really appreciate any tips and good vibes! |
| Honestly, just follow whatever instructions you get from your RE. I had 3 FETs. First one stuck and resulted in my DD, 2nd failed, 3rd went ectopic. I did the same thing leading up to and after each: healthy diet, no caffeine, minimal alcohol, took it easy day of transfer, etc. Healthy, normal BMI...only issue causing infertility was lean PCOS. Embryos were all normal. It sometimes comes down to just luck. |
Would you be ok switching to decaf coffee? At least temporarily ? |

Just treat your body as if you were pregnant already: get rest, drink water, get moderate low impact exercise, eat healthfully. Cut down caffeine. Wouldn’t hurt to eliminate alcohol.
Otherwise, I think is is out of your hands. The embryos are already created and will either take or won’t take. Good luck. |

Did absolutely nothing before FET. Life as normal with alcohol, coffee etc. If possible I would try to get enough sleep and drink water though.
Following the FET, total "couch princess" where I basically lay around all day and watched TV Both FETs stuck, though one later ended in a MMC I tried a lot of that other stuff (Mucinex etc) during natural TTC and it was a dud, so I didn't bother during IVF |
| I honestly did nothing special prior to my successful FET (age 41), didn't cut out caffeine or anything like that. After the procedure I went on a long walk, too. I know some people believe in bed rest after but I don't think that's necessary - in fact, getting some light exercise in seems like it might be helpful, get the blood flow going and all that. Good luck, I really hope you have a sticky embie!! Crossing my fingers for you! |
| I sat outside to get some sun in the days leading up to my FET. Natural vitamin D. |
| I did anything and everything I could read about before my first two FETs. Both were fails. For my third I just went about my days as normal without doing anything crazy (like drinking a gallon of coffee, running a marathon, or binge drinking). That one implanted. I truly believe after the embryos are formed that you can’t really do much that will impact whether you get one to implant. |
| Eat pineapple or take a baby aspirin if they let you |
| Acupuncture. But PP is right when I walked into the clinic that day my nurse said “This is the first picture of your baby.” The embryo just looked strong. The embryologist also said while I was lying there ready to receive it, “This looks really good.” I rested ate pineapple and kept my feet warm. Good luck! |
