Meagan Alderton doesn't send her kids to public school and works for charter schools. How is this woman the chair of the school board again, this time unanimously? This "leader" does not support public education. She is a threat to public education. Anyone endorsing her and supporting her cannot possibly see how she rubs meetings. Why and how does she keep getting naked chair? |
*getting named chair |
Because you won’t run for her office, OP |
Is that why you aren't POTUS? Because you didn't run? |
What about the other people on the school board who do send their kids to ACPS or have ACPS grads? |
Does it matter? Everyone on the board is the same, although she is a bit worse since she doesn't send her kids to ACPS. And as a former special ed teacher kept the schools closed to special ed kids and then bragged on social media about her kids' private school being open.
Being chair will be a nice line in her bio when she joins Hutchings lucrative consulting firm. |
By your extremely poor logic, no one can complain about any elected official unless they ran for that particular office. ![]() |
It's really disappointing to those of us who would like to see change. |

Alderton is no different from anyone else on the board so there really is no where to go. Then end result (a board obsessed with equity instead of education, a board that follows the directions of a superintendent who is no longer there but might as well be, a board that has zero respect for parents and works to silence parents) would be the same. I suggest that if you want change, get together with other parents you know who feel the same and simply show up in person to SB meetings. You don't have to speak or do anything. Speaking from experience, it freaks them out because so few people (no one) does it. Let go of your fear of being called a racist by the board member and PTA parents. They do it so often that it's actually become a joke. Go through the budget and ask questions. Are they paying Hutchings? You can FOIA consultant records and invoices. Why are they so in the hole but haven't spent COVID funds? A month ago, school board members (specifically Elnoubi) didn't know how much or on what 54 million of COVID funds had been spent. Why? No one is going to swoop in and save ACPS unless parents step up. |
I am always shocked that the Dems don't go after Alderton since she clearly doesn't support public schools. She works for an org focused on charter school networks and her own children attend parochial schools. To me, I am not voting for anyone who supports charter schools in VA. It shows how challenged they are because the laws in VA make it nearly impossible. I used to be pro charter schools until my husband and I were Broad Fellows and worked in charter schools. My DC friends all send their kids to charters. |
What has Alderton done to support the creation of charter schools in Virginia and Alexandria? You sound like a previous poster who was obsessed with trashing former school board member Veronica Nolan for her very tenuous tie to the charter school movement. Nolan was terrible but never did a thing in support of charter schools. Alderton is the same. She's probably just working to bring ACPS style equity to DC charter schools just like she keeps reportedly trying to bring it to her kids private school. |
Sounds similar to these silly accusations against Nolan by someone who was too bigoted even for moonwalking/blackface former Governor Northam:

This letter did not age well since it endorsed both Alderton and Greene who are not good for the Board. |
I think the point is quit your complaining or do something about it |
