| For the past two summers, my kid has done the summer school program offered by MCPS for elementary school students. He enjoys school and I looked at it as free camp. I am not expecting them to offer it this year. Has anybody heard differently? Damn, camp is expensive. |
| I expect them to offer it—why wouldn’t they? |
| I'd be surprised if they didn't given how far behind kids still are. |
| It would be nice if they could announce it early so people could make other plans. |
The funding for the last year or two has come from Covid money. |
op here. yes, this is why I am asking. I need to make camp plans and it's annoying not to have any info. |
write your board member! |
| I work at an elementary school and haven’t heard anything about summer school yet - I don’t think plans have been released yet. |
| OP, you might ask your principal if they plan to offer anything. |
| Also interested in this. I was hoping someone had insider info. |

I also doubt they'll offer it this year. They offer free tutoring. I'm sure that will continue throughout the summer.
I don't think the summer school was meant to be 'daycare' for the ES kids. Also, not sure that they'd be able to get enough staff to cover it. Teachers are pretty burnt out. And schools are already short-staffed. |
| I'm pretty sure the Title I schools will have it. |
Yes ESY will likely still happen. (Extended School Year) |
Title 1 is not special ed. |
ESY is not for everyone like regular summer school is. |
