Our relatives from Belgium will be visiting later this month, and I am preplanning meals. They like to have bread and butter with dinner, which my family
typically doesn’t do (just out of habit - we all eat and like bread!). What is your favorite bread type to serve with a meal, and where to you buy it locally? I live in Bethesda. Thank you. PS - Do not worry, I will buy good quality, european style butter while they are here! |
| Whatever ciabatta bread they serve at Stracci Pizza in Del Ray. Good lord |
| The olive loaf at wegmans is delicious! |

Whole Foods baguettes are good. I like the st Germaine baguette
Safeway bakery bread is not terrible either, just try to avoid the kinds with added sugar |

If you want to really treat them, go for Seylou Bakery in DC. https://www.seylou.com/

| This is probably too low-brow for them, but Trader Joe’s sells mini baguettes in the freezer section. They’re really convenient and might be nice when you can’t grab some fresh stuff. |
| Fresh Baguette in Bethesda |
| Any of the breads sold at Boulangerie Christophe, Potomac. Incredible. |
| Have you tried baking "no kneed" bread? It's easy easier than I thought. |
| Great Harvest Bread Company. |
| If you are in Bethesda, just go to Bread Furst. |
| The Country French bread from Costco. Freeze the second loaf. |
+1 |
| Baguettes to finish baking at Trader Joe’s is good. I’d suggest doing different breads if you are doing multiple dinners. Might even want to try a homemade cornbread or buy it from WF. If you have a Dutch Market, they make good rolls and bread. |
