Knife block? Drawer? Magnetic strip?
Currently use a knife block, but considering switching to a magnetic strip to free up a bit more counter space. Wondering if there's a down side I'm not aware of. Thanks. |
| We have ours in a drawer, in a wooden knife organizer (e.g. https://www.williams-sonoma.com/products/williams-sonoma-in-drawer-15-slot-knife-organizer). It works well but takes up a lot of room and I've been considering moving to a knife block on the counter to get that drawer back - although yeah, then we'd lose the counter space and I'm not sure which I'd really rather give up. |
| Magnetic strip on the side of the fridge. We are really pressed for counter and drawer space, but it's also supposed to be good for keeping the edge? |
| Our big knives are in a knife block. Steak knives are in the silverware drawer. |
| Just loose in a knife drawer. They are used so much that putting into a block is tedious. |
| My knife block is in a lower cabinet hidden away. Kids are older. |
| Cork knife tray in a drawer |
Same. I'm happy to give up the drawer space to have the counter space. |
| I have one steak knife and four butter knives. They're all stored together in a silverware caddy that sits on my kitchen counter. |
Same for me but add 2 sets of tongs to the magnetic strip. In our small kitchen that means the knives are within easy reach of stove & counter. |
| Knife block and on the counter next to it. I have the counter space, so it’s not a big deal. |
| We had the magnetic strip and I really loved it. Very convenient. |
| Magnetic table top knife holder, but it’s narrow so the footprint feels smaller than a knife block. Used to have a magnetic strip and loved it but don’t have that in current house |
