Generally the actual schedules aren’t set until much later. Course registration isn’t really an actual “registration,” more like a “request.” Students aren’t guaranteed to get the courses they registered for.
They use course registration to assess demand, then adjust the schedules according to student requests and teacher availability closer to the start of school.
That’s why students have to register for classes so early—gives them time to work all that out, and gives MCPS time to make adjustments in staffing based on overall enrollment for the next school year.
