I have a BMI of 34 and would like to try the new weight loss injectables, specifically Wegovy. My prescription plan will cover it but my GP said that weight loss services are outside her area of expertise. I would like to work with someone trained in obesity medicine who can both prescribe an injectable but can also work with me on a weight loss plan/goals and be responsive if side effects develop that I need help with. Can anyone recommend someone like this in NOVA? I've checked the Wegovy provider database but most of the docs work for concierge practices. TIA |
Check INOVA. I think they have a weight loss clinic. |
Can your pcp refer you to an endocrinologist? These are the docs that are most familiar with semaglutides. |
OP here. I am aware of the clinic and have made an appt. but they are booking into April. Apparently they only have one doc who sees new patients--and can prescribe injectables--on the non-surgical weight side of the practice. |
Washington Center for Weight loss in Alexandria. Dr. Rubino is the best. But before you ask them about meds, ask them if they have any clinical trials. I did the trial for Wegovy with them 18 months before the medication came out. Lost over 100lbs. I love this place! They are expensive and don't take insurance, but the clinical trial saved my life. Now the prescribe my maintenance meds. |
You can check Eli Lilly’s clinical trials.
