| Just got back from visiting family in NC and enjoying my yearly hush puppies and I’d really like to get them at home. All the BBQ places I’ve tried have either just plain cornbread or weird cream cheese filled hush puppies. Where can I find the pure fried corn goodness of hush puppies around DC or MD? |
|
I make them at home, mix from giant. Other than that we typically get them at crab houses.
Other than the things you mentioned about "fake" hushpuppies, the biggest crime is places that don't have honey to go with said hush puppies. |
| DC9 has excellent hush puppies |
| Just make them at home. |
Honey with hushpuppies is a crime. Claire & Don's in Falls Church has good hushpuppies. |
| Best ones I’ve ever had were at Stevensville Crab Shack, just over the Bay Bridge. I’m a huge fan of hush puppies and haven’t found good ones any closer. |
| Jackie lees are BUSSIN |
| Seconding Clare and Don's. |
They are really good. Liberty bbq ones are ok. |
| No where. I make my own using my great grandfather’s recipe. Nothing in/near DC comes close. I have had good ones in the Deep South. |
| Do you all fry them? That's what stops me from making my own. I hate firing up the fryer. |
| What makes a really good hush puppy really good ? |
| Cameron's Seafood in Rockville |
Red hot and blue - so good, completely deep fried |
For a brief second I thought you were talking about shoes!
