| I lost my budgie yesterday in Arlington. I am looking for it but am afraid he might not have survive this weather. Can a budgie survive in this cold weather? For hours? For days? |
| I think it’s possible he sought out light and people and is indoors somewhere. I think if he was outside he would die but he could have flown into a heated garage or someone could have rescued him. Don’t give up hope! |
|
Unfortunately, I don’t think they can.
Have you posted on next-door, your local, Lost and Found, pages and bird groups? |

Someone lost a cockatiel in my neighborhood.
20 years ago my father caught a lost parakeet right before Christmas. This was in upstate NY. That bird lived for another few years. |
| NP. Curious if a cockatiel can cope better than a budgie. |
|
OP you can try these. Also, call the humane society to see if anyone turned him in.
Facebook group: DC Metro Lost and Found Birds https://www.911parrotalert.com/resources/tips/ Www.parrot alert.org Phoenixlanding.org If he’s tame, he might have sought out a person. Unfortunately, when we lost our parrot, Phoenix Landing told us that when people find a dog or cat they turn it in, but when they find a parrot they go out and buy a cage. |
Both are originally from Australia. |
Which neighborhood? |
I think it's Westbrook / Westmoreland Circle. |
| We saw what looked like a cockatiel yesterday 12/25 near 48th and Davenport NW. we called DC Animal Care and Control who said they were sending someone to try to rescue. Your friend should call to see if they were able to rescue it. Best wishes |
