Slugs don't wash off. You have to see it there and pull it off. It more likely indicates very fresh produce.

But, yes, yuck.

fresh produce, not covered with chemicals that would kill bugs/slugs.

Was the slug dead? Otherwise, the broccoli wasn't cooked/steamed, or however prepared.

Or the slug, if alive, made it onto the broccoli after the broccoli was cooked....in which case I'd question the health standards of the kitchen.
