best device to quickly remove frost from windshield?

Anonymous
It's frosty out. Yes my defroster is on, but it takes a while to get going. My scraper isn't cutting it, and I need something that quickly and easily removes frost from my windshield, driver's side window, and rear.

Any tool recommendations?

Ice scraper. Or you can buy a cover thingy that has magnets to hold it on, goes over the entire windshield and part of the hood. Just pull it off in the morning.

What do you mean your scraper isn't cutting it? Do you need a new one? I've never had an ice scraper that did not actually scrape the ice, so I'm confused by your problem.

Get an ice scraper with a long handle. That solves a lot of problems too.

I fill a pitcher with warm water and dump it on my windshield.

Ugh don’t joke about that. Some ppl might actually do it.

Get a new scraper. Plastic scrapers get beat up pretty quickly and then don't really have a smooth edge to scrape the ice.

I have the cone kind and it works really well. Bought it years ago at a flea market. Highly recommend. It’s easy to hold onto and clears a large area quickly.

Cover your windshield with cardboard each night

And hopefully you'll get a new ice scraper in your stocking

Squirting a bit of windshield wiper fluid helps, but after the car has been running and only to supplement the defroster.

I have a 3 year old plastic scraper. It helps get some off, but not quickly or efficiently. Can you recommend a great one that will last? Like a very specific scraper to buy?

You need a new one every 2 years. Plastic dulls.

That is what I do if the ice on the windshield is relatively thin. I spray wiper fluid generously and use the wipers to scrape the ice off. Takes 5 sec. This however fogs up the windshield so you would have to keep spraying and running wipers now and then for maybe a few minutes.

Spray salt water solution on the windshield
