I'm decorating my office and trying to figure out which of these approaches to take.
Option A: room painted white with one wall (the one you see straight from the door) covered in some type of fun, colorful wallpaper, and a simple rug in a color that coordinates with the wallpaper Option B: room painted white with a statement rug Which would you do? |
| Oops! My title should read "fun wall and plain rug or fun rug and plain wall". |
| I'd go with fun wall so the eyes are drawn up rather than down to a rug. |
| Whatever you do, don’t do one wall of wallpaper or one wall of different paint. |
Why not? I'm thinking a wallpaper that will be too loud for all the wall.s |
Wallpaper hahahaha OP no please no. Just paint the wall another color if you want. And rug sure that's fine. |
| I’d do a fun wall |
| Fine rug plain wall. |
That’s a common instinct but it never looks good. Do all the walls or nothing. If you insist I think framing a panel of it or something would be better. |
| I think one wall can look good. If you look for examples on Pinterest/Google there are a lot of ideas. |
| One fun wall with the wallpaper. Love it. |
| I always favor plain white walls. They make the room look brighter and larger. You can have fun pictures on a plain wall, and they’re easier to change than wall color, if you get tired of the look. |
| I agree not to do just one fun wall. The idea of a statement wall is pretty outdated. If it’s an office, it’s presumably small enough that you could do all the walls in wallpaper such that it wouldn’t overwhelm things. Or I’d do white walls and nice rug. |
| Fun wall and fun rug. More is more is more. |

Accent walls aren’t my bag unless you’re trying to set off the space.
I like the idea of neutral walls with lots of fun art, which I thought was going to be the idea when you said “fun wall.” I think if you find a great rug you really love and the entirety of it will be seen, a rug would be a great focal point, but if a piece of furniture is going to go over it then no. Generally I’d vote fun wall. |
