Next weather to watch - 6" snow on 12/22?!

Anonymous
Weather Underground is currently showing 6.2 inches of snow on 12/22. https://www.wunderground.com/forecast/us/md/gaithersburg/KMDGAITH134
Timing currently looks like snow all day into Friday. If it is just snow to start with no reason they can't run morning buses, and unless it is very heavy, streets should be able to be kept clear during the day. If conditions get bad, they could call an early dismissal.

However, snow the day before winter break? I predict that there will be a LOT of absences.

It’s not real until the capital weather gang says so!

Noooo. WE are supposed to leave town and hit the road to Florida after school. I guess we are going to pray they call that day and hit the road as early as possible so we can beat it. The threat of snow will go away as we drive towards Florida's sunny shores.

More than likely, the snow on 22nd will come in later in the day. I predict *maybe* early closing on 12/22.

This is still WAY too far out to make plans around. Unless you still need snow pants for your kids, buy those now.

By Monday we'll have a better idea if this is actually going to happen.

Schools consider early closing to be the absolute worst case scenario. If they have any sort of suspicion they can't have a full day of school, they will cancel school. Imagine the nightmare of sending kindergarten kids home early on the bus when their caregivers might not be expecting them because it's not their normal time? No. They won't do that.

MCPS has closed early for inclement weather several times before, and I don't see why they wouldn't again if the timing were such that it made sense.

Ha, it's way too soon to predict snow down to the inch.

Today is the last day of school for LCPS, all my college kids have made it home, and we aren't traveling for Christmas this year, so BRING IT!

+1 Maybe the ^PP is a newbie?

Weather around here is notoriously unpredictable.
