Food, Cooking, and Restaurants

Grandma's in town, so we're going to out on our own for the second time in a year. Woo hoo! I'm out of the loop on what restaurants are good these days. Where would you want to go on a date night? Thinking someplace in NW or Bethesda, nowhere we could go with our one-year old, more fun than fancy/snooty, open to all kinds of food.
Thanks! |

i like persimmon and grapeseed in bethesda but it might fall under more snooty than fun.
in general, i think NW would provide a lot better date options than bethesda (where you're more than likely bound to run into families!) i think coco sala would also be a really great date night place... the place is very sexy and definitely would not be a place for kids. the portions are small and prices are steep, however. |
| Old Ebbitt Grill is fun for the real DC experience but for great food Restaurant Eve in Alexandria. For a great location The Chart House in Alexandria. It is on the water and very relaxing. The VA restaurants are a bit of a drive but then you could explore the shops on King Street and continue your date. |

If you're willing to go downtown, then Oyamel, or maybe Rasika. Bethesda doesn't have much, although you could try Black's or Grapeseed.

| Bethesda's got TONS of great restaurants! I agree DC would be more fun. Citronelle if the budget's not an issue. |
| I preferred persimmon to grapeseed. Indique is good in Cleveland Park. |

I ate at Grapeseed for the first time last Friday, and I wasn't all that crazy about it. But that's just me.
In D.C., I love Brasserie Beck, Cafe Dupont, Jaleo, Napoleon Bistrot, and Tabard Inn for date night. |
| In DC: Blacksalt, Ceiba, Ten Penh, Rasika, Bombay Club |
