School Pictures?

Has you school just stopped with the school pictures? Ours did during COVID obviously and then never brought them back. This is year three with no school picture day. Apparently it got too complicate.

My kid’s school has had schools pictures every year, except 2020.

Our DCPS has school pictures twice a year, first in fall and then in the spring.

Every school I know people at has had pictures including every preschool

Stupid question, we are new to the US. Why are school pictures so popular ? Especially now that everyone can take pictures. The quality is bad, it is very expensive and my school didn’t do classroom picture this year which is what I cared about. What I am missing ?

It’s just tradition and part of the fun is laughing at the silly expressions and watching them grow through the years. Probably less relevant now that we all have a zillion photos on our phones.

And no, our DCPS hasn’t brought them back yet either and it bothers me too. I want the crazy expression and generic background for posterity!

At a public charter school and individual and class photos continue. They're used in the yearbook and made available for families to purchase (prints or digital).

At LAMB they skipped them in 2020 and 2021 but they are back this year, and you can get individual pictures, classroom pictures, and sibling pictures.
