Has anyone's child taken the Curriculum for Agricultural Science Education (CASE) at Sherwood and do you have any feedback on the program?
I think I saw this on the list of courses being piloted this year, but I don’t remember where. Maybe a BOE meeting presentation? But if it is new, no one has feedback for it yet. However, there’s an enthusiastic teacher interested in the topic and recruiting students.

I’ll look back on the Board of Education minutes and see if I can glean any information from it. I watched a recruiting video which had kids participating in activities so I think it is already at Sherwood. It looks intriguing and my daughter is interested and trying to decide on a possible career path.

That’s cool! Do they have a school farm? I went to a part rural school and there were lots of very smart farm kids who went to do ag related careers. I’m not sure how it would be if you didn’t live on or around farm. But FFA had a farm on the high school campus for kids who didn’t live on farms.
It was at the Dec 6 meeting. A teacher from the program at Sherwood was talking about it during public comments. And he said the program had grown the poinsettia plants that were around the board table that day.
Thank you for pointing me to the date. I was able to find the teacher’s testimony and listen to it. It sounds like a very nice program. Sherwood does not have a farm but they have a very nice greenhouse. However, there are lots of farms and nurseries in the area so I can see how this would be a good program for the school. It also has good career paths like veterinary science and agriculture work. |
