My boy wants vmax Pokémon cards as his Christmas wish gifts. He has a few hundred of Pokémon cards 95% training/energy/basic/stage 1 cards, and others are better cards like V cards and stage 2 ones. He wants VMax cards, how to get him a few of VMax cards?
I got him like 18 booster packs last time, he got lucky drawing a few V cards from them. That is quite costly and inefficient. |
| You buys the cards, not the packs. |
+1 Part of the excitement is buying packs and finding a Vmax. Your best bet would be to get a trainer box which has many booster packs inside and hopefully he finds a Vmax. Or you go to eBay or a local card shop and buy the individual cards. But that could be just as expensive as buying the trainer box. |
| TCG player app. You can buy single cards for a few dollars. |
| What individual packs would have higher chance to draw VMAX card? They all have different graphic and words on outside front package, are they the same? |
| You can buy the individual cards at game shops that sell Pokémon cards. There are also some sets that give a guarantied v-max card. They show the the card on the front of the box and the names are something like “Charizard V-max mega box”. |
| Check out TCGPlayer or go to Collector's World in Annandale. |
| What do kids do with all these pokemon cards, just to collect dusts as collection? |
Sadly true. My 9 year old son got really into pokemon for about 6 months and then suddenly has no more interest. But given Xmas, a birthday... he accumulated a bunch of cards in a relatively short time... seems to be a very common situation |
They collect them and some like to play the card game. |
Oh, and also, they trade them with each other. |
| We inherited my husband's godson's collection, we had kids much later, so much younger than godson. He had them nicely organized in pouches in binders. But lots of new pokemon since then! I like idea of passing down to next generation! |
+1 The card game can actually be fun |

He can trade for them or you can buy individual cards at a comic book store.
The reality is I’ve already had a kid leave a whole binder on the playground, never to be seen again. He was able to rebuild because I got some cards for free from Buy Nothing. Talking to other parents, the lost or stolen binder experience is not uncommon. I got a small binder that only fits 40 cards so that he would have to select some and leave most at home. Shortly after I did that, he lost interest completely. Now he won’t give up his cards to his brother but he also never looks at them. |
| Op here. I just go online thru TCG player to buy him some vmax cards. I think it is cheaper this way, thanks. |
