Dashboard cell phone mount that will work with an older Honda CRV (2011)

We have tried dozens of phone mounts but because of the way the dash is slightly sloped downward we haven't been able to find one that sticks.
We have tried looking at reviews for ones that are supposed to work but none of those worked either.
The suction cups rely on a flat smooth surface but the surface is slightly curved proving it to be a pain to find something that works.
We tried use the kind that clip to the vent but it heats up the phone in winter and the vent can't support that much weight.
Tried to mount on windshield but it was too distracting and it fell off while driving
Any suggestions for a brand / model that works?
