Cost to repaint hood

Anonymous
The hood on my old Toyota Corolla is badly chipped in several places and has some rust on it. Ballpark what would I have to pay for someone to repaint the hood? The hood isn't bent or damaged in that way, just rock chips (I suppose) which I should have repaired years ago and have only gotten worse. I live in Arlington, but am willing to drive to get a good price and good work.

It’s a Corolla. Just get a couple rattle cans and do it yourself for like $20

Hello fellow beat up Corolla owner - I have this exact same issue. Had it on the roof as well and had that fixed in 2021 for something like $400 (I think?) at C&G in Ballston. The problem is if you let it rust too far, you’ll end up with actual holes in the hood, which requires a full replacement, which is much more $$. It’s on my list of (expensive, annoying) things to take care of, but it’s literally the only thing wrong with the whole car (now 12 years old and 150k miles) so it’s worth it to fix, IMO. C&G did a good job, I’ll prob go back for the hood.

So you don’t need to repaint the entire car? I have a similar issue with my hood and just assumed the entire car needed to be repainted.

Yes. But this is a Corolla we’re talking about. You could cover it with duct tape and no one would blink at it.

No, they just match the color of the hood to the rest of the car when they repaint. Similar to if you needed to repair a scratch on the bumper or whatever - - they would not repaint an entire car when fixing a portion.
