Revlon vs Drybar

I’ve used the Revlon oval one step hair dryer brush for years (thanks DCUM!!) and have loved it for the price, simplicity, and cutting down my drying time, but I do think it damages my hair. Now that there are so many more options I’m considering a change. Is the Dry Bar brush dryer worth it? I heard it’s good for thick, curly hair but not as damaging as the Revlon. Or other recommendations? I

The only one I have had recommended multiple times is the Dyson, but I can’t do it at that price.

I have the Drybar version of the Revlon brush and cannot use it. It fries my hair. I’ve never tried the Revlon one, so I don’t know if it’s any worse, but it certainly can’t be better. I want to try the Dyson.

Anything with direct heat will fry your hair if you do not use it correctly.

1. Towel dry
2. Air dry
3. Heat protectant
4. Then use your dryer for styling

Has anyone tried the “Hot Tools” dryer brush? It got consistently good reviews online.

I agree that a lot of it is technique. I have had the Revlon for years with hair prone to frizz, and I do the same as 08:15. No issues with frying my hair. Get a good quality heat protectant and serum.

I have both. I think the temperature on the Revlon is very hot, so you get better straightening but more damage. I heard the newer versions have more temperature options, so maybe that could be a solution for you.

The drybar is less hot, so it is slightly less straight, or takes more time to straighten but it seems to do less damage.

I like the drybar heat protectant, which helps too

But, both of these products are very similar, very subtle difference between the two items.

I have the revlon as well as the dyson …

Echoing that the only way to not fry your hair is to get mostly dry before using either tool, and use heat protectant.

I use the revlon most often just because I like the bigger curl and faster process for every day. It gives same results as using a round brush and drying.

I use the Dyson for when I want an actual “blowout” look, with smaller curls

I have both. Stopped using the Revlon one because the bristles were pulling my hair. I like the drybar one but not sure it's worth the markup.

I think the drybar one is less powerful than revlon. I have thick, curly hair and I do much better with a round brush and blowdryer on first use. I use the drybar for touchups.
