Question about going rates...

| Anyone have a sense of what the rate would be to pay a SAHM to watch a baby (along with one of her own). It seems like it'd be much less than the nanny since you're going to them and there is another child present..but I'm at a total loss! |

| I would think the same as a nanny share ($12-15 per hour depending on where you are). It's no less work for the nanny, keep in mind, though I would definitely worry about a certain amount of neglect in that situation, even with the best of intentions. |

| I think PP missed the part about bringing your child to her - this would be more comparable to an in-home daycare and should be substantially less than $12-$15 an hour (which by the way is quite high for having 1 child in a nanny share - that would mean $24-$30 an hour for 2 kids)! |

OP here---yes, we'd be bringing our child there so it would be more akin to in-home daycare. Do you know of a place I could search to see what those rates normally are? Thanks!

| Depending on where you're located, you'll probably be in the $250-400 a week range. The closer in to DC you go the higher the rate and vice versa. |

| Location, hours, ages of children all factor in. Nanny shares can be $10 and up per hour. Usually more like $12. In home daycare roughly would be $300 a week. But the ratio of an in home daycare is 6 to 1. I would find a number between nanny share and in home care. I would certainly expect to pay more for someone with a 2 to 1 ratio than a typical daycare center. We pay ours $12 per hour whether she comes here or we go to her because going to her benefits us too since DH works from home some times. There is no right and wrong answer, just what you two can agree on. |

| We paid $12/h for ours. It didn't end up being a good fit. She had a difficult time balancing the demands of two children. |

| We have an arrangement with a SAHM. It is on an "as-needed" basis and so far has worked ok. Our children are roughly the same age (about 1 year old). I pay her $50 a day (8-9 hours). But, it is under the table so it is closer to $65 a day. |
