Holiday gift for tutor

Gift card? Cash? What's an appropriate amount that's not too little or too much?

Depending on the tutor I either do something chocolate or I do an Amazon gift card in the $25 range.

Save your money for teacher gifts. They are the ones handing out grades.

Depends if it's more of a professional tutor, associated with an organization, or a freelancer. As a freelancer, in my younger years, I'd have appreciated the cash. As a tutor with more years under my belt, a sincere card, including something from the kid, would have been great, and something edible or soap or whatever that says, "I don't know what you want, but I'm making an effort." Maybe a Starbucks gift card, but not a card to Target or anything like that. That seems to imply, "We think you're poor!" Or at least, it would have to me.

Mostly agree, but I would never say no to a Target gift card
