For this, I used data from Parchment: https://www.parchment.com/c/college/tools/college-cross-admit-comparison.php
For the first 12 or so schools, I got a clear order by just ranking them against each other. For example, Harvard beats Stanford, which beats MIT. For the rest of the schools, I made leagues where I stacked all of them against each other. Depending on the number of wins, draws and losses each school obtained points and based on the number of points, schools were ranked.

ALDC can't handle real majors at MIT
of course they have to Harvard and easy majors there.

Parchment does this for real, and its list looks nothing like yours. Clown.

Just look at the list you shared and it’s obviously not the same as cross-admit wins. Do you seriously believe Texas A&M does better for cross-admits than Harvard? OP’s list is actually sensible and in-line with school-reported data.

Parchment is not a reliable indicator because it is based on such a small number of samples which result in fairly dramatic moves year-to-year.

In one year, Harvard moved 20 spots (from #10 to #30) and Northwestern moved 16 spots (from #3 to #16). (Using years 2021 versus 2022.)

Do Bates & Colby even appear on any of the Parchment lists ? (All Colleges, National Universities, LACs, Regional Schools.)

OP: For 2021, the Parchment top 10 National Universities were:

1) MIT
2) Stanford
3) Northwestern
4) Michigan
5) Brown
6) USC
7) Columbia
8) U Chicago
9) Princeton
10) Harvard

OP: Is your list based on the 2013 Parchment list ?

Parchment offers annual lists from 2012 through 2022.

Looks reasonable to me.

For the millionth time, Parchment is NOT reliable in the slightest.

For any of these lists, even the most esteemed such as USNWR, it reminds me of when I started reading Consumer Reports in my 20s. At first, I used CR like a Bible and would buy the highest ranked item - appliance or other big purchase. I soon realized, I often valued different criteria than CR. Sometimes I cared about durability more than price or the size of the object or whatever. The point is, any of these lists have limitations. They are best used to eliminate a poor choice, IMO. But once you get to the highly ranked choices, you have to pick based on your own criteria or you will end up unhappy. Who cares if you buy the best vacuum according to Consumer Reports, if it doesn’t have the attachment you wanted. Or attend the highest-ranked college if doesn’t offer the community (or teaching faculty, weather or whatever) you seek.

This is such a great analogy for me because I went through a similar evolution with relying on CR so know exactly what you mean. Thanks for reminding me of this perspective.

It may not be reliable, but it does match well with most people's thinking on the prestige of these colleges. And people do make choices more or less based on this perception.
