The Menu - thoughts?

What did others think of this movie? I know it is supposed to be midnight black comedy but two suicides, dismembering guests and collective cult suicide?

The Chef is a thinly veiled parody of Gordon Ramsay as cult leader I suppose - but it was more sad than funny to me.

Did anyone find it actually entertaining?

Has no one seen it?

My husband saw it and enjoyed it. He enjoys horror and the newish genre of black comedy venturing into horror. He also is a foodie and enjoys fine restaurants (and we have traveled to eat at some pretty amazing places), so he’s very aware of the type of restaurant and clientele portrayed. I think it’s more of a Adria or Redzepi parody than Gordon Ramsay, except for the temperament perhaps. But in terms of type of restaurant portrayed Ramsay is too mainstream.

I did find it completely entertaining. Thought it maintained the right tone throughout.

loved it.

I LOVED it. It was so funny and weird, and surprising. Great skewering of foodie culture and rich people (see also: Triangle of Sadness). Plus it was short - just an hour and a half!

Ha, I will have to look those chefs up as not familiar with them.

We have dined at some amazing places also but nothing remotely like this.

I guess I need to take my irony supplements ..😀

We saw it and enjoyed it. We rarely go to restaurants that are haute cuisine.

Um. You just spoiled the moving in the first sentence.

I've never heard of it, and though it actually kinda sounds interesting, now I won't watch it.

Don't spoiler movies or books without warning!!!! (Like, "spoiler alert" in the title!)

Those "spoilers" are in most reviews of the movie.

If you're upset about the OP don't look at The Wiki page for this film. It goes into a lot more detail in the plot summary.

DP, but yeah, I would EXPECT to be spoilered on the Wiki page.

Anyone that has seen a preview would definitely expect violence and gore. Not sure they'd expect a specific description of events. At least put a spoiler warning!

I never see films without reading reviews and most reviews detailed these points … OP did reveal much of the plot at all …
