Apparently there is an antibiotic shortage and my kid needs Amox for Strep. Anyone been able to fill recently so I can call that Pharmacy instead of shooting in the dark?
Thanks! |
I heard this too weeks ago from a family in Arlington that drove to a Pittsburgh suburb to get their scrip filled. Good luck. |
Apparently a local one has it but Im worried to get there and them be like JK not that one. We shall see............... |
We had the same last Saturday night, the CVS pharmacist was very nice when I asked her to write down what they have in stock so I could ask doctor for a different kind, was able to get doctor approval for switch then picked up on Sunday. |
Have your doctor write the prescription flexibly so they can change.
We had to call about 10 local pharmacies to find it ~10 days ago, and the one that came through was a local neighborhood one. |
Our local Walgreens does have it and luckily the doctor sent in both an electronic copy to our local pharmacy and they gave me a written copy for if I had to go around to other pharmacies. So I could pick it up in 30 minutes so I'm hoping that it's actually ready and I feel so bad for parents having to scramble just to get antibiotics. |
I had to get a cough medicine recently that was out everywhere but Costco. Don't forget them. They were terrific. |
Preston's in Arlington is a compounding pharmacy and can make it for you.
But also, it doesn't *have* to be Amoxicillin. Ask your doctor for alternatives. |
I filled one yesterday in South Arlington at Walgreens. |
We found it this week at Brookville Pharmacy in Friendship Heights (5454 Wisconsin). Said they have plenty. |
Maybe this is another reason not to give antibiotics to agricultural animals? |
I saw a news story about it this morning and the doctor on the story said you can't find amoxicillin anywhere right now. Your best bet is to have the doctor write a scrip for a different antibiotic. |
??? This has NOTHING to do with antibiotic resistance. Amoxicillin is literally a modern form of the first antibiotic drug ever made. |
Yes, but if the manufacturers weren’t so busy making it for cattle, maybe there would not be a shortage for humans? It’s also a terrible idea for a million other reasons. I know the whole pharmaceutical supply chain is screwed up. My dad was t able to get his cancer medication for months and months. |
We got it easily from CVS on Friday. We are in Silver Spring. |
