Doctor shopping for wegovy

My regular GP wouldn’t prescribe even though I’m overweight and have very high cholesterol (didn’t think I was overweight enough with a BMI of 27/28). Do you think it’s worthwhile to try with my Obgyn? Ever since quitting smoking and having a baby I’ve had the hardest time with losing weight. I’m hungry all the time with no real results. Also stopped drinking but nothing.

See if your doctor will rx Qsymia. It suppresses appetite and cravings.

Just go to an online doctor. As long as they're licensed, they can write a script

No I don’t have personal experience - my PCP prescribed my meds. I’m in FB support groups and these are the most-referenced telehealth options. I believe all have a fee.

even if you get an ex, your insurance prob won’t pay for it and there are massive shortages so it’s incredibly hard to obtain.

How do you find out ahead of time if your insurance will cover it? We have Aetna if it matters

You can log into your health plan website and look for the drug cost estimator or drug coverage tool. It should allow you to then enter a name of the medication and will advise if it’s covered and any limits/co-pays/etc.

I have CareFirst and my specific plan covers Ozempic with a PA (prior authorization) and can be filled for 30 or 90 day supplies. It doesn’t cover Wegovy or Mounjaro.
