| My DD received email solicitations from two colleges she EA'ed to asking for donations for #GivingTuesday. Did anyone else receive these solicitations? Will it help her to donate or will it look bad if she doesn't? |
| It will absolutely not help her or hurt her. |
| I can't imagine it would. I think they just get on email lists and schools want $. |
| Agee with PPs. She's just on an email list now. It's irrelevant to admissions. |
| That’s really tacky and inappropriate for a school to solicit donations from applicants. |
Which schools? |
I've been getting them too and hope they end after DS finishes this application process. Although, unless he's accepted, my Alma Mater may not get money anymore either.
|
On schools that track interest and can tell if they open their emails, I think it will help them to at least show you opened the email. My DD's friend was asked by an AO why she never opened their emails, so I am certain some AOs track this. |
| hahaha! not happening. my college is too woke |
| As a development director for a nonprofit, that is incredibly tacky to beg money of applicants |
| The email went to my DD and she doesn't have a credit card so if we do donate, it has to come from me. She thinks we should donate and if we don't it's one more thing she'll stress about and will think it was a factor if she doesn't get accepted. I wish they never sent the email. |
| No way - you definitely do not need to donate. |
|
What a horrible position to be put in.
Honestly, though, if mommy and daddy not giving money before the child is even accepted is what tips the scales, is that REALLY the type of place you want your child attending? |
| My DD got 3 of these emails from the same college. We are not donating. I find it offensive. |
