What would you do accident.?

Around 3 months ago kid borrowed my car and dinged another car parking.

Slight damage and no one in other car no damage my car she gave my info.

He filed on my insurance but since kid not on policy held it up. Plus this guy so busy he never would bring car in. Since then his car has another accident unrelated.

My old insurance I told them finally. (I switched companies) she had permission to drive they agreed to pay. I Just said she borrowed it not a regular driver.

Anyhow now 3 months later my insurance company is kinda saying to him I want proof damage not already fixed by his insurance company and bring car in. This guy demanded cash rather than fix it. Originally I was all for that 100 percent and even offered it up on day one. But once he called my insurance rates got hiked.

Me paying him does not lower my rates. Now he wants to Sue me. My old insurance basically told me without a quote and paying body shop directly don’t pay him. I feel bad. But my old insurance is like he needs to bring car in. He seems to think that is a headache.

What would you do?

I would ignore him and not respond. Let the insurance deal with it.

I guess. He should in my opinion force my insurance to pay and leave me out of it. I be more than happy to pay him if not for fact the second he reported it my insurance went up $700 a year for next three years and he only wanted $1,400. I even said ok. But my old insurance put it in the record so pointless paying him $1,400. To my surprise a reported accident with no payout is still an accident once reported.

Ok, your child to whom you loaned a car caused an accident. Neither you nor your daughter are out of this. If he sues, it will be both of you not your carrier.

I don’t understand lawsuit. Original issue kid not on policy borrowed car. So insurance would not pay. However he could have filed on own policy under uninsured motorist and of course his insurance would have made me pay.

But I now told insurance I let kid borrow car and not an issue.

I don’t know what lawyer would take a case like this. I sued someone in a car crash many years ago but I had three broken bones, concussion and 20 switches. What lawyer would take this case?

It is not like a medical lawsuit or pain and suffering or whiplash. Or is this a small claims thing?

Let your insurance handle it. Also you should have an umbrella policy for things like this.

You don’t need a lawyer to sue someone.

ignore. this is what insurance is for. if he is so lazy he cannot take the car in to be looked at, how do you think he is going to find the willpower to sue you and all that it entails. ignore, ignore ignore. refer to insurance company. use claim number and adjusters name and phone - then stop communicating.

Did the kid have a license? We’re they insured as a driver on another car of yours? This part doesn’t make sense to me. If you were trying to be cheap and not put a household member on your policy this is why you don’t do that……

My kid was away at school with no car. She borrowed it while home. No not on policy. She took car to college in September and I switched insurance companies and she is on new policy. This was literally up the block in a parking lot.

Weird part other driver did not witness. There are zero witnesses, my car no damage. My kid is only witness.

OP we’ve already gone through this with you. Why did you start a new post?

That was months ago and literally after two months of radio silence pops up again.

Insurance took over!! Told him not to contact me and for me not to respond.

My rates will stay up and stress will go down. I am still confused of all of this.

His threats got a bit crazy. Guess my insurance will enjoy him
