They are offering a two-year membership for $539. This sounds like a great deal but it also sounds too good - like a last attempt before shutting down. I am tempted to join but worried about paying $539 a few months before they go out of business. Thoughts? |
You know the answer
Thoughts clearly you need some No no no no no You can not be this dumb |
Haha, what happens to No Commitment |
That’s $22/month? For Planet Fitness? Join the y |
I think they charge $50/month on a monthly basis. So the real question is, do you think they will shut down within the next year? If so, go monthly. If not, get prepaid. FWIW, I have gone to the Falls Church 24 Hour since 2016, and I’ve never seen it as busy as it has been in the past few months. The equipment definitely could use some upgrades but overall I’m happy here. |
This is pretty typical for then. You used to be able to get this deal through costco too. It's only for new members.
I don't see them shutting down anytime soon. The one in Falls Church went through landlord negotiation after covid and will be there for awhile. |
What are you talking about? People aren't talking about the Fallsh Church location, that was one of the lucky ones https://www.businessinsider.com/24-hour-closes-134-gyms-location-details-addresses-2020-6 They are talking about 24 as company. Pretty sure the landlord negotiation has something to do with this - https://www.24hourfitness.com/company/restructure/ |
24 emerged from the restructure successfully and are holding market share. Overall the fitness industry is expected to grow over the next 5 years and other fitness companies are looking to expand. I don’t think redevelopment of the Falls Church property is likely but I’m not sure if a new company buying it would honor existing membership contracts. |
The class selection at the Falls Church gym has been pretty bad since Covid. |
What are you talking about? They filed chapter 11 in 2021 and came out of it. Not sure why OP thinks they are shutting down soon. |
