Asians in MOCO private schools?

Are there any private schools (that include elementary school grades) in Montgomery County that have a decent amount of Asian kids? As an Asian parent, the lack of Asians in most private schools that I’ve looked up is dissuading me from going the private school route.

I am not Asian, but my kid definitely has Asian friends at Landon, more than at his K-8.

Indian or E Asian? Lots of Indians and half-Indians at our private but not many E Asians (we are an E Asian and there are two in a class of 70 in middle)

I’m E Asian. My children in DC privates have zero E Asian friends. They’ve not had any issues with racism. If anything, my kids’ school friends are very interested in my kids’ culture and have a lot of pride in knowing it. The communities are truly wonderful that way. Parents too. But they are not places for my kids to develop close cultural connections.

NP: What school is this?? I am seeking private options for half-Indian kid who mostly identifies with their Indian culture.

My kids are very proud of their heritage. They don’t seem to mind not having more E Asians. They’re having a very different experience than the one I had as a child, which sounds more like yours. My kids’ friends compliment their hair, their classmates’ parents ask for our recipes, they get asked out on dates. Most of the parents are very nice. My kids are also interested in other kids’ cultures. The first time they tried hummus did not go well! But they ask for it now. I wish they had closer ties to our culture, but I can’t fault the school. I would not discount a private only because of a small number of E Asians.

All the privates we've looked at also have very few Asian American students.

The DC area private schools’ pedagogy and lack of tests is quite different from anyone with parents from an Asian or British or European schooling system. One has to really drink the koolaid or do a ton of supplementing for Pk-8z and gawd forbid you relocate or move school systems, you’d be quite behind unless dealing with granted 9-12z

A good summer program for E Asians is CTY. There are many Asians there and also social activities. Also if they go to a good college, there may be many E Asians. But afterwards, at different organizations or companies, there may be very few E Asians. Or there may be many E Asians at the bottom, and few or maybe none at the top. I think children should learn to adjust to how many Asians. That will give them more options for how to progress.

True. I also think it's important for kids to not be self conscious from a young age that they look different. Confidence is important.
