frozen turkey

Anonymous
I know that I'm late to the game (mea culpa! mea culpa!)... just bought a turkey at Costco which is 22 pounds and is still frozen.

That's not enough time to thaw in the fridge. How would you make sure it's thawed by Thursday morning?

I'd thaw it in the sink (if you have a double sink) or in a largce pot/container/roasting pan. If it's rock solid the night before, I'd put it in a water bath (still in the packaging of course!). Good luck!

OP here. Thanks! I will probably do this. Would you add ice to keep the temp low or is that not needed?

not needed, and not helpful if the bird is already frozen solid

Put it in a cooler, and fill with enough cold water to cover the bird. The cooler will keep it cold enough while the turkey thaws.

Home Depot bucket. Add water.
