Has anyone rewired their home in the district themselves, and if so how did you approach permits and inspections?
There is another string related to this topic that was hijacked with comments about the risk, etc. We are aware of the risks, and simply want to know if anyone has done this and what their experience was. Thanks! |
We did some but no permit. Sone we paid an electrician who never finished the job with a permit so we did. Inspector did not care. You can take a test to be able to diy via permit. |
You sure about that in DC? I know MoCo allows that, never heard of it in DC. |
Wow, great! Was this in the district? |
From the DOB website: (https://dob.dc.gov/page/get-permit)
Your project may require additional permits such as Supplemental Systems Installation (A/C, electric, plumbing, etc.) and Water or Sewer Excavation (pipe installation, water main connections, etc.) *Note: Only licensed DC contractors for the specific trade may apply for these permits. |
