I felt seriously judged by our pediatrician when I said we weren’t going to do it. I have a 12 year old boy. He had covid within a month of getting the vaccine and it was basically nothing. I’m sure he will get it again, as we all will. Are you boosting your kids? |
Mine got the first two doses plus booster in the early part of summer. One child was pretty sick the next day. I'm not taking them in for the newer booster.
No one has health problems that would put them at high risk. I just don't see justification for another booster at this time. It doesn't prevent covid and they are unlikely to get severely ill if they get it. It is a hassle to take them in then have one or more kids stay home sick the next day. I just don't see the benefit at this time |
Already did. |
Yes. In August before school started. |
DD yes, DS no. The males in DH’s family have all gotten weird heart issues from the vaccine. But if that wasn’t the case I would vaccinate him too. |
All of them? No. |
No. I have preteen and early teen boys. They've been vaccinated. We all got COVID this summer. It was fine. Unless something changes, they aren't getting boosters. |
Same. |
Nope definitely not. We got the original series last year, and just weathered mild covid with no issues. The booster does not prevent infection so I'm not at all sure what the point is, and DS is nearing the age when myocarditis from the vax becomes more of a risk. |
My kids are younger but same otherwise. |
Hi, you are correct. I don’t know why I said that. It is exactly half. |
I see no point in getting boosters for most adults at this point, even less so for kids. |
What weird heart issues? Is that what physicians called them? Weird issues? |
The vaccines don’t prevent covid infection, they prevent severe disease. No increased benefit against severe disease has been shown in kids who are boosted vs having only the primary series. Benefit of boosting is more for elderly. I am holding off for now…as it is my kids have been unmasked all fall and local covid cases continue to drop every week. |
My pediatrician never even mentioned the first dose. If they're judging you over a booster I would switch. |
