8 weeks pg and symptoms have disappeared

Anonymous
Quite literally overnight, I feel great. Was suffering from extreme fatigue, heartburn, nausea and food aversions. I'm happy to feel great but am also concerned about the baby. Have an u/s next week and haven't experienced any bleeding. Is 8 weeks too early to feel better? Has this happened to anyone else?

Holy Cow - you should be thrilled and happy!!! Good for you! (I had heartburn from day one...for nine months...searing buring pain. In fact, that is how I knew I was preggers with #2)

ok - pregnancy 1 that happened - i called and insisted on a sono -- turns out no heartbeat. horrible.

3rd pregnancy - that happened again around that same time - nurse told me when i called to be happy and glad that the 1st trimester was almost over! i asked to come in anyway -- turned out all was well, DS is now 17 mo!!

SO - morale is - call the doctor or you will drive yourself nuts with worry.

I agree with PP. Call and ask for a sono right away. In my case, the sonogram found a heartbeat and everything was fine.

My symptoms got significantly better around the same time, 8-9 weeks. I was really worried until I got to hear the heartbeat at 12 weeks. DD is now 8 months old. Good luck!

I was the same way. You're fine! Congratulations and be sure to take care of yourself.

I hit 8 weeks today and my morning sickness seems to have kicked into overdrive. Everyone I talk to says every pregnancy is different, even different pregnancies for the same mom.

Congratulations and good luck. Call your doc if you get too stressed. They expect us new mommies-to-be to ring their phones off the hook.

It really depends. Since morning sickness is simply the way your body "adjusts" the the surge in hormones (vital for cell division, blood vessel growth, implantation, etc.) some people are able to "deal" with it better than others. Morning sickness tends to be worse in the morning because your stomach is empty, but as you know, it can last all day. Plus, there are a variety of reactions - quesiness, nausea, actual vomiting, fatigue, aches, heartburn, etc.

At the 8 week mark your body may have "adjusted" which is great - some moms-to-be aren't that lucky. Of course, if you are skeptical it never hurts to call and ask the doc. (or at least a midwife).

Congrats!

I think pregnancy is the only time that people worry that feeling significantly better is a problem!

I didn't get any of the symptoms you describe in the beginning. I am now 32 weeks and suffering from constant heartburn, muscle and bone aches, fatigue, general discomfort, swollen feet, etc. I could go on. Enjoy the break!!

I would recommend calling your doctor and insisting on an u/s. My symptoms nearly disappeared at 9w and it turned out that I lost the baby. The exact same thing happened to a friend of mine.

I don't want to worry you more, but I would advise you to get the u/s just so you know what's up - and it will ease your worry.

I agree with the previous posters. Call your doc. Then, when they tell you everything is fine you can embrace the honeymoon phase of pregnancy without any residual worry!
