We are heading down I-81 for a long drive. And good restaurants?

We love to try new places! Suggestions are appreciated!

South, I assume, since you said "down"?

I-81 is long. How far are you going? Around where will you stop to eat?

We leave early and stop at The Apple House for doughnuts on 66 before getting on 81. We stop for lunch around Roanoke.

Sorry, yes south. From Front Royal all the way to NC.

Smiley's in Raphine has the best fried chicken and BBQ. It really does.

The Apple House also has the best apple donuts but it's too early for us to stop when we're on a long trip. It's a destination for us rather than a stop.

This has been our favorite stop for years. If you aren’t ready to stop
Yet at that point, a little further south is The Draper Mercantile in Draper.

These are great!

If you’re ready to stop by Woodstock, this place is great:

https://www.woodstockgardencafe.net/

It’s a cafe inside a garden center, which itself is a good find.

That place looks worth the trip even if you are not heading that way.
