Kids With Special Needs and Disabilities

I am currently waiting to see if my DS gets into the Bipolar study at the NIMH. The waiting is killing me as I hope he gets in and he gets into the treatment study not the non treatment study. Right now the one thing that is working against him is his young age.
I am also waiting to see if we can get him re-evaluated with the school district so he can have an aide. I am also waiting for real treatment to begin so we can determine if his autistic tendencies are because he is on the spectrum or because of his two other disorders. Bipolar and ADHD. |
I agree....waiting for test results, waiting to be seen, waiting to have a test repeated (often) to confirm a positive result, waiting for a referral, waiting for a response to a medication, therapy, or treatment...waiting for a clear diagnosis. Just waiting.
I am learning that patience is a true virtue when you are having testing, etc. for your child. It seems like we've done a lot of waiting this year!
Waiting is terrible. I am with you. I'm not a patient person to begin with, but when it comes to worrying about my child, waiting is a whole new level of awful.
OOOoooo! I know how terrible the waiting is. Just keep breathing!
OP here. I knew I wasn't alone in this. We have waited so long to get him into treatment only to find there (possibly) more going on with him than I had originally thought. He will never be cured but I just want to have all the ducks in a row.
OP- we all hold out hope for cures, but please don't give up that. the daily struggle can be so insufferable, but you are doing everything you can to get things taken care of and in order. Waiting for ideas, answers, treatment and results is a terrible ordeal but we're all passengers on this boat together!
It's not a matter of giving up on a cure it's a matter of not getting ahead of where we need to be. I want to focus on what we can do now.
OP here. I am so bummed. DS didn't get into the study.
Oh, I'm so sorry, OP. Hugs to you. |
I'm so very sorry, OP. I wish there were something we could do for you.
