Prepping/Scamming the Cogat

Really helps to have those extra couple of points at AAP time.

Me too, that is why we have been in Kumon math and reading since she was 3 and 1/2. We did not know what CoGAT was/is when she turned 8 but she smacked that test (including SCAT and SSAT) out of the heavenly park. Preparation for life is a good thing when one doesn't specifically prep for any tests.

Addendum: in no way did our preparation for life improve her intelligence or smarts. She was born with that natural and innate intelligence (just like Phelps was born with innate swimming smarts and talent)

We don't "test prep". We "life prep" the extra points come in stride.

This thread is complete bull. You want to make it so prepping for the CogAT is the same as practicing sports. The same as music.
O
It is different. Prepping for the CogAT by using sample questions is akin to forging a birth certificate so an older kid can play on a younger travel team. It is like the elite athlete trying to be the best by taking Human Growth Hormones. It is like the mucisian using a recorded piece instead of a live piece at a concert.

In all fields, there are ways to cheat. And at all levels.

I have seen, in house sports leagues, teams breaking rules on recruiting at the 8 yo level.

It happens. And it is wrong.

Yep.

The use of sample questions is fraud and cheating?

What of sample shapes, patterns, numbers and letters?

...sample oral questions, sample essay questions, sample job interview questions and sample music pieces

By this definition, all of humanity shall inherit hell besides you...of course.

Yep.

One of life's lessons is an ability to get back up off the canvass.

Please stay down, madame.

It simply took on the disguise of the pseudonym "life prep": preparing for life with the use of mental games and puzzles, building shapes and patterns using legos, and word and number games when the annual CoGAT ritual is upon our FCPS children.

Sorry. My children are using the popcorn to practice addition, subtraction, multiplication and division as "test prep" for the next CoGAT test.

I will not release their names to Ms Carol Horn of the AAP squad patrol.

George Bush, Tricky Dick Chenney and Rumsfeld have long left office.

Turn those children over to Horn. It's the moral thing to do.

Bush didn't have to prep. He was a legacy.
