2026 Girls Player Commitments🥍🥍

*the USF is not at the public Glenelg but the private.

Amazing job tracking all that - and two Glenelgs can be confusing!

I am surprised that a few girls from Heros green that came from MC Elite are not committed. I thought they would have gone immediately and to top notch schools. Fingers crossed for them. For anyone watching, they are a perfect example of how this process is difficult. If anyone should have gone quick it was them. Injured or not they deserve it.

It's also quite possible they're taking their time to consider their options, assess the cultures that fit, and getting true visits in to compare them rather than taking a phone call and committing to a school because they said you have 48 hours or we're moving on.

of course my statement was not to pressure them so much as to show just how long of a process this can be. those girls are great players and so deserving. that was my only point

One decided not to play in college pre-Sept 1.

Highlights that so many factors play into deciding to play (even if one can from an ability perspective) and which schools girls/families decide to pick etc. The wave of outside expectation and pressure can feel very real to the girls and always a good reminder for all of us that it is each girl’s/family’s job to block out the noise and decide what is best for them and what they want from a college experience. For example, some may be DI capable, but want DIII to have a more well rounded college experience also. Others may want club or to play club in other sports also.

The social media post is great (and all these girls should be proud), but it is each girl that has to go to the school and actually do all the things! It depends on how that fits into their desired college experience, overall life goals and what career/major they may want to pursue. Sometimes that means deciding to put the stick down also.

Amen!!!! Well said. Kudos to that young lady for knowing what she wants. Takes courage.

I heard from my DD that a girl on SW Blue also made this same decision (not to play college pre 9/1).

I bet you some of this you have to chalk up to burn out. To be good enough to play at a top school you have to be playing lacrosse 24x7 since you were 6 years old. Enjoying college and being a regular student is not a bad option at all.

I think some is also getting more interested in certain intense courses of study that aren’t as compatible with DI sports - or realizing if you try to do both that your quality of life will be greatly diminished. It is just hard to know that until a bit later in HS. And QOL and mental well being are finally being talked about more. But I agree - chasing perfect grades, test scores, sports achievements can be, collectively = pretty exhausting.

Just to play devil’s advocate: if a player has no intention to play D1, why tie up a spot on a top team like hero’s green or SW Blue? Other girls may want one of these spots to play in front of all the coaches.

I think they likely don't know for sure until right before 9/1.
